It’s been a long, long time since this last happened, but the Vintage Silver Pie Server challenge stumped you!
Last week I posted the tricky double confident with your recent record that you’d solve it in no time at all, but no one did. So here is a second chance. Hint, click the photo to enlarge it.
Vintage Silver Pie Server’s New Home
It’s always a thrill when a piece goes to a new home, and this one went home on Friday night with it’s new family. At the Scottish Walk Christmas Market a couple with a 10 or 11 month old baby came up to my booth.
The lady told me she wanted to buy something silver for her baby’s first birthday and did I have any baby items in stock. I showed her the one’s that I did, but then I made a suggestion.
Instead of a baby piece which she would soon outgrow, why not give her a piece that she could use and treasure her whole life. I suggested a few things, but then my eye landed on the vintage silver pie server. I pointed it out saying, not only could this be used to cut and serve her first birthday cake, but every other birthday cake she ever has, it could then be used by her children and grandchildren.
This evidently struck a chord, because the piece was duly purchased. A couple of hours later she came back with some friends and one of them was kind enough to say what a wonderful idea that had been and how the whole family was going to enjoy and cherish the pie server.
Moments like that are the icing on the cake for me.
How to Play the Monogram Challenge
For those of you who are new, welcome and thanks for taking a look around. The monogram challenge is simple to play. Take a look at the photo and leave your best guess in the comments below. If more than one person gets the answer correct, I’ll draw names out of my hat to break the tie. The winner is then announced the next Monday.
As with any good contest, prizes are involved. To read all about that and the official rules click here – Monogram Challenge Rules. If you are looking for information about Monograms on Silver – click Silver Monogram Rules – Google sends people astray every so often.
Try, try again
Perhaps it was the Thanksgiving weekend excess that held you all back last Monday. Regardless, give it another try!
I have been going to lots of local events and have a couple more on my calendar. Items move quickly while I’m there, so if you have your eye on something get it while you can. As with any vintage or antique vendor, once my pieces are gone, they are gone.
A number of people have been disappointed in the last couple of weeks when the piece they were looking at suddenly disappeared from my site. Items are sold on a first come, first serve basis, and for those of you online I have absolutely no way of knowing you are even looking at something specific.
