Eye Candy Friday

It’s Friday afternoon already. It seems to have come around very quickly this week. To encourage you to relax and anticipate the weekend I have a little eye candy prepared.  But first, after weeks of no winner for the monogram challenge, I am delighted to announce

We have a winner!

In case you don’t remember, here is a photo of Monday’s challenge.  A lovely and unusual oval shaped vesta with flowing script engraving. For those who don’t know what a vesta is, it was a container for storing matches.  Vestas kept them safe and dry, and in the days before safety-strike heads were fireproof too.  The strikeplate for this vesta is integrated into the bottom.  Rather a neat piece of work.

Isn't that gorgeous engraving? The piece is a lovely vesta by Horton & Allday, 1910. The strikeplate is on the bottom.

Frequent contestants Ell and Flibbertygibbet were both correct with the submission of CHB.  In accordance with the official Notes & Observations Monogram Challenge rules, I have put both their names on bits of paper and drawn them from a hat.

Congratulations Flibbertygibbet – contact me – and I’ll get your prize to you.

On with today’s business

Here is today’s Eye Candy – Eye Candy 6

Please remember

I’ve set it to a little jazz by the incomparable Red Garland, so if you are in the office or the baby is asleep turn down the volume or use earphones!  I won’t be held responsible if you get caught by your boss or (worse) you wake up the baby!

Enjoy, and as always, leave me some comments.  I love to hear from you.

What a darling piece! Don’t know if I would be able to part with it.

Thank you for your comment on my pantry post. I love the sliding barn door too. Maybe next house!
